Cloudy skies and a chill in the air greeted Washingtonville students Wednesday morning, as buses rolled in, backpacks came out and students made their way back through school doors for the first day of the 2026-27 school year. 💙💛

WCSD's new teachers got their first look at the schools, people and community they are joining this week during the district’s two-day New Teacher Orientation. 🧙‍♂️ 💫

Along the way, they heard some advice for the years ahead -- surround yourself with people who help you grow, remember why you chose education and be that person for someone else.

📣 Taft Elementary families: New Student Orientation has been rescheduled to Monday, August 31, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Please see the letter from Principal Williams below for additional information regarding the schedule change. 💙💛

Taft Elementary School’s New Student Orientation has been rescheduled to Monday, August 31, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The additional time will allow staff to complete final preparations following summer renovations and ensure the building is ready to welcome students for the new school year.
