School District of Washington Parents as Teachers State funding began in 1985 to implement the PAT program in all MO school districts. Personal/home visits by certified parent educators

Our universal access model focuses on families with children from before birth to kindergarten entry, and presently includes these four components:

1. Parent group meetings about early childhood development and parenting
3. Developmental and health screenings for your children
4. Referrals to community networks and resources

. Parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers.

. The early years of a child’s life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and life.

. Established and emerging research should be the foundation of parent education and family support, curricula, training materials, and services.
