Congratulations to the 2026-27 WCHS Color Guard!

A big thank you to everyone who tried out! We had such a tough decision this year, so please know we would love for you to come back and try again next year!

The mandatory band student and parent meeting will be held on Monday, April 13 at 7pm. We will be going over season details, camp and cost information and announcing the theme of this year’s show! Please plan to attend with at least one parent/guardian. If you cannot attend, please email Mrs. Brent at [email protected] so we can be sure you get the information in a timely manner.

We look forward to a great season with all of you!

This year’s team roster is proving to be our toughest choice yet! With so many amazing candidates, we are working diligently to make sure we get it just right. We have a meeting scheduled on Wed. night and we hope to post the finalized roster by Thursday!

Due to the pep rally in honor of the Girls Basketball team, we will be changing tonight’s practice to a short meeting to go over audition and season information. This meeting is for students only, parents do not need to attend.

We will meet in the MPR from 5:30-6pm so anyone who wants to attend the celebration has the chance to do so. No need to bring equipment!

It’s almost time for Winter Clinics to begin!!!

This year our clinics will run on Mondays, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2 and 3/9 from 5:30-7:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) at WCHS. Winter Clinics are open to all Washington students in grades 7-11, regardless of experience. Students can be dropped off/picked up at the main entrance in the circle drive on Jefferson St.

‼️Please note-the last week for 7th graders attendance will be Monday, March 2nd.

Winter Clinics are designed to help students at every skill level from beginner to advanced. New students will learn basics, meet current team members and get to know the coaches. Experienced students will have a chance to brush up on basics, learn new skills and practice leadership roles. We will touch on flag performance, dance skills, marching technique and musicality. Returning high school students will also have the opportunity to learn rifle basics in preparation for our rifle line auditions in April.

A limited number of flags will be available for students to borrow while attending the clinics each week. Students will NOT be permitted to take flags home until audition week. If you have your own 6ft pole & silk please bring it with you to all Clinic dates.

Also, mark your calendars for our team auditions, March 16-19 from 6-9pm. Attendance to the Winter Clinics is NOT required in order to audition, but we do strongly suggest that new students especially, make time to come and learn basics at the Winter Clinics. Due to time constraints during our audition week, we will not be able to do another in-depth basics lesson after Winter Clinics are over.

Official dates and times for our winter clinic will be posted here soon!

While we await final approval for our winter clinics, we CAN announce our audition dates for 2026!

Auditions for the 26-27 WCHS Color Guard will be held from Monday, 3/16-Thursday, 3/19 from 6-9pm. Please note that ALL dates/times are required for auditions unless you make prior arrangements with the coaching staff.

More detailed information regarding our team and the audition process will be provided during winter rehearsals.

It’s that time of year again! We’re once again looking for parent volunteers to host our team for our band camp lunches! 🍔🌮🍉🍕🍦🍩🥗🥨

For each day of band camp, we ask for volunteers to host a lunch to feed the team. After a hard morning of work at camp, these lunches are a great bonding/relaxing time for the students and also gives you, as parents, a chance to get to know your child’s teammates a little better.

You can host a lunch at the park, your home, church, or even one of the grade schools. Some parents choose to do it by themselves while others team up to make the cost/set up/clean up a little easier. (We can help pair you up with another parent/group if you need it!) We can also split the team into smaller groups if you are willing to host a portion but not all of our 44 students (which is 100% understandable!) If you aren’t able to host a lunch yourself but still want to help, you can make a monetary or food donation. Any and all help is very much appreciated!

Students are dismissed from school right around 11:50am and must be back at school by 1:15pm. We have 44 students. Coaches do not attend these lunches. A complete list of any food allergies will be provided to all hosts prior to band camp, so you can plan accordingly.

Congratulations to the 2025-26 WCHS Color Guard!

While we wish we could take each and every one of the hardworking and wonderful students who tried out for us this year, we had to make some very hard decisions. Competition was extremely tough as we had the largest number of auditioning new students in over a decade! If you did not make the team, please consider coming back next year!

All students and at least one parent are asked to attend the 2025 Marching Band Kick-off meeting on Monday 4/7 from 7-8pm. You will receive more color guard specific information at this meeting as well. If you CANNOT attend, please contact Color Guard Director, Megan Brent at [email protected].

Congratulations to the 2024-25 WCHS Color Guard!

We want to thank everyone who came to our winter rehearsals and auditions this year! If you did not make the team, please come back next year and try again! We would love to see you!

Please note that there will be MANDATORY costume measurements taken during rifle tryouts, April 9-11. Students should come to the MPR anytime from 4:15-5:30 during any one of the rifle tryout dates. Measurements take 5 minutes or less and students are free to leave once their measurements have been recorded.

2024-25 team Auditions start TODAY!

Auditions for our 2024-25 team are this week, 3/11-3/14 from 6-9pm in the MPR at WCHS. Tryouts are open to any Washington 8-11th grader.

Students who do not have their own flag will be able to borrow a flag for the week, provided they have a signed flag check-out form. Those forms were passed out last week at our final winter rehearsal. More forms will be available tonight.

Students do NOT need a physical to tryout. Please dress in comfortable athletic clothing with sneakers or dance shoes. We also recommend bringing a water bottle and snack.

Reminder that tonight is our LAST Winter Rehearsal of the year! The kids have been working hard to learn new skills and write short routines set to music, which they will perform for each other tonight! We are excited to see what each group has created!

Our performance will be over by 7pm, so 7th graders will be excused at that time. 8th-11th graders will stay for an audition meeting with the coaching staff from 7-8pm. Each student will be given an informational sheet to bring home and share with their parents.

Don’t forget: Auditions are NEXT WEEK, Monday 3/11-Thursday 3/14 from 6-9pm each night. Auditions are open to all Washington 8th-11th graders, regardless of whether they were able to attend Winter Rehearsals.

We want to thank everyone who came to our rehearsals this year! We are excited to get a start on our 2024 season!
