General information
The Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS) offers undergraduate students opportunities to work as interns both in Washington, DC and in Nafplion, Greece and also to participate in archaeological field work in Kenchreai, Greece. The Harvard Summer School Program in Olympia and Nafplion is one of the oldest and most successful Harvard summer study abroad programs. Divided between the ancient site of Olympia and the seaside town of Nafplion, the program recently completed its ninth year. Founded in 2002 by a team of Harvard-trained scholars in the humanities, with the crucial support of Harvard Professor Gregory Nagy, the program focuses on the comparative study of cultures, with a particular interest in the legacies of Hellenism and in imperial and post-imperial formations in the eastern Mediterranean.
