It has been my privilege to serve the distance running community at Washington Community High School.
-Volunteering as coach the boys distance team for 8 years and one year as a part-time assistant in XC
-Supporting parents to host distance boys track team meals and an end of year banquet
-Serving with athletes at WHIP food pantry and Reflections Memory Care
-Co-hosting a distance camp for middle schoolers
-Resourcing Coaches Walcott and Petravick with XC gear orders
-Updating the three social media accounts with the latest PR's

Eight years ago, Darrell Crouch took a chance on me when he offered me an assistant coaching role. I will always be grateful for that.

As with anything, there are seasons. At this point, I believe it is my time to start a new season and resign from the roles above.

The young men that I have had the opportunity to coach are exemplary. As I type this, I picture their faces as they cross the finish line after a new PR. I picture their teammates celebrating around them. What a joy it has been for me to be part of their lives. Thank you, men, for the blood, sweat, and tears we have shared over the years. Thank you to your families as well. Many of my past athletes continue to keep in touch. I hope that continues with all the runners I've coached.

I was able to coach my two sons. I was able to be on the track when my daughter ran for WCHS. What a gift.

I am called husband, dad, and pastor. I love all those titles. And I'll always love being called COACH.

Good luck, Sophia!

Best wishes to senior Sophia Ramirez as she competes today in Charleston at the IHSA State Finals. Sophia will run the 1600m and compete at approximately 5:30pm

The boys distance team put their season to rest tonight at Sectionals. It was a season full of ups and downs. Lots of PR's and lots of blood, sweat, and tears. Enjoy some time off, boys! But XC is coming! Thanks for the memories Owen and Cade.

Why not finish your WCHS career with a PR in 1600m? That's what Owen Spiezio did with a 4:36.86 at Sectionals today. What an end to a great running career at WCHS, O! That's the way to finish. Congrats!

Congrats to these two competitors on finishing the season at Sectionals with new PR's in their splits of the 4x800m relay. Adam Eisenberg down to a 2:19 and Jonah Rose down to a 2:22. Great teammates and great competitors! Way to finish strong, AE and Rosey!
