John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School John Cotten Tayloe is located in Historic Washington, North Carolina. It is located on the Pamlico River east of Greenville, NC.

Washington was founded in 1776 and is said to be the first town named for George Washington. JCT is one of 14 schools in the Beaufort County School System. It is a second and third-grade school with an enrollment of approximately 450 students.

JCT page has shared so many memories, accomplishments, and milestones that tell the story of our school community. While it's hard to say goodbye, we're excited for the new journey ahead as we come together to build something new. Thank you to everyone who helped make this school and its story so special. The memories will always remain, even as we turn the page to a new chapter.

No Referrals Kickball Tournament was a BIG hit! The winners from 2nd and 3rd grade games played against one another leading the 3rd graders to play against the teachers! The teachers won but it was the perfect way to enjoy these fields at JCT one last time!

Sunday Call for Week of June 1 to 5

Hello Tiger Families, this is Mr. Olivares, Principal of John Cotten Tayloe. I hope you are having a great Sunday. We have reached the last week of the 2025-2026 school year and we have a few reminders.

Here are your weekly updates:
Monday, June 1st is Awards Day
-Second Grade at 9 am
-Third Grade at 10:30 am
-Official invitations were sent home last week with students receiving an award.

Tuesday, June 2nd
-Some Third Graders will be taking the RTA or Reading EOG Retake

Wednesday, June 3rd
-Some Third Graders will be taking the Math EOG Retake
-We have our No Office Referral Kickball Tournament, students are encouraged to wear sunglasses, a hat, bring a water bottle and towel.

Thursday, June 4th
-Our students will enjoy our End of the Year Carnival. This event is for students and their teachers only.
-Report Cards will be sent home.

Friday, June 5th
-Luau Bash Party. Students and Staff are encouraged to wear their school appropriate luau attire. All students and staff will get a lei.
-Last Day of School, Dismissal will be at 12:15 pm. Please make sure to be on time for Carpool and Bus Pick Up.

Thank you parents and guardians for a great school year and for all of the support you provided your scholar, teacher, administration and for trusting us with your child. May you have a joyful summer.
