Kid Biz LLC is family owned and operated by the Wood Family (William “Woody”, Adele and our 2 children, Jessica and Charles). When we first entered the childcare industry in 1991, we were a home based family childcare center that was open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were the first childcare center in our area to provide extended hours for working families! Two of our locations continue to of
fer these non-traditional hours of operation, Monday through Saturday 6am to midnight. As our enrollment grew and the need for care exceeded our expectations, we made the decision to find a space that was larger and more suited to our ever growing needs. With a new larger facility, we were able to provide premium quality care for more children living in the Washington and McMurray areas. In 1997, we took a leap and purchased an existing childcare center, Happy Face Learning Center! With high hopes and big dreams, we found new properties to relocate both centers which would provide more space and updated accommodations for families and the children we serviced. In early 2000, the CEO of Penn Commercial Business and Technical School approached us with a proposal… Open a childcare facility in their brand new state-of-the-art facility! It was a proposal we couldn’t pass up! We had done collaborations in the past with Head Start and Community Action Southwest, but nothing like this. With the ever growing changes taking place and the growth of our facilities, we decided to merge Just Us Kids and Happy Face into one legal entity. In 2005, Kid Biz LLC was established. With the establishment of Kid Biz LLC, we decided to broaden our horizons and plunge into another area of the childcare industry. In early 2006, we took on our first consulting job with a childcare center in Bridgeville. As a project based consultant, Kid Biz LLC helped with all aspects of the development, design and opening of this childcare facility. Since opening the Consulting Division of our company, we have helped numerous churches, community based companies and individuals open quality state-of-the-art childcare facilities from the ground up. In September 2013, we even helped our children; Jessica and Charles open a second generation facility named KIDDOS (http://kiddoscenterforlearning.com/) Center for Learning LLC in Bentleyville! In January 2014, we took on our latest collaboration and opened a childcare facility within Washington Park School. As a company, we have two (2) centers that were chosen for the Pennsylvania Keystone STARS pilot program. This is a voluntary, quality initiative program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We currently have three (3) locations that maintain STAR 4 status in the Keystone STARS program and our newest center has been designated at a STAR 2 level. Kid Biz LLC is known for its collaborations with community agencies and was a forerunner in helping establish the importance of collaborations. In previous years, we have worked with Community Action Southwest and the Head Start program to run both a Head Start program at one (1) facility and a state funded Pre-K program at another. We, at Kid Biz LLC, take pride in our low staff turn-over rate and the diverse spectrum of our employees’ backgrounds. Of the 65+ employees at Kid Biz, most have an education level higher than a high school diploma, including CDA’s (Child Development Associate Certificate), B.A. in Education and even M.A. in Education. As a family, it is our goal to provide the best quality childcare possible to as many families as we possibly can in the Washington, McMurray and Bentleyville area!
