✨ TWO DAYS IN… AND WE’RE ALREADY SEEING GOD’S GOODNESS! ✨

What an AMAZING start to the school year at JFK Catholic! 💚💛 Our first two days have been filled with new beginnings, familiar faces, new friends, lots of laughter, and plenty of KINDNESS, KINDNESS, KINDNESS! ❤️

With our new principal, Miss Brown, we wanted to begin our year by building community, strengthening friendships, and putting our faith into action. So, on our second day, our students headed to the Pavilion for our first Prayer Partner activity of the year! 🙏🏼

We began our afternoon together in prayer and then took on a fun Get-to-Know-You Challenge! Students and their prayer partners walked around the Pavilion searching for people who:
✨ Had something in common with them
✨ Had something in common with Miss Brown
✨ Were altar servers
✨ Were returning JFK faces
✨ Were brand-new members of our JFK family

There was plenty of talking, laughing, dancing, and getting to know one another along the way! 🎶💃🏼🕺🏼 A HUGE thank-you to JFK alumni Rick and Jan Bell for providing the music and helping make our afternoon so much fun! ❤️🎵

We ended our afternoon together in prayer, thanking God for a beautiful day and for such a wonderful beginning to our school year. 🙏🏼

We learned.
We laughed.
We made new friends.
We welcomed new faces.
We found things we have in common—and celebrated the things that make us different.
And most importantly…

👀 WE SAW GOD’S GOODNESS.
❤️ NOW WE’RE CALLED TO BE GOD’S GOODNESS.
Our theme for this school year is “See God’s Goodness. Be God’s Goodness.” We are reminded in Scripture:

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness…” — Galatians 5:22 ✨

And if there is one word Miss Brown wants us to carry with us this year, it’s:

❤️ KINDNESS. KINDNESS. KINDNESS. ❤️
Kindness in our words.
Kindness in our actions.
Kindness toward our friends.
Kindness toward someone new.
Kindness even when it’s difficult.

Because when we choose kindness, we are putting God’s goodness into action.

Here’s to an incredible year ahead, JFK! We can’t wait to see all the ways our Comets will SEE GOD’S GOODNESS and BE GOD’S GOODNESS this year! ☀️💚💛

⏰ Immediately After School until 3:30 PM

This isn't your ordinary season announcement...

🦆 Search through flocks of rubber ducks to find hidden clues.
🔎 Solve riddles that lead you from station to station.
🎭 Work together to uncover the TWO exciting musicals that will take the JFK stage this year!
🏆 Every participant will receive a prize before heading home!

Our amazing high school theater volunteers will be stationed throughout the hunt to guide you on your Broadway adventure and help you unlock each new clue.

Will you be the first to figure out our fall and spring productions? 👀

We are so excited to welcome all of our Kindergarten–8th Grade students back tomorrow, Thursday, August 20 for a FULL DAY of school! 💙

📅 First Day Reminders:
🔹 PK4 first day: Tuesday, August 25
🔹 PK3 first day: Thursday, August 27

🍎 Lunch: Lunch service begins on the first day of school. Please make sure to add funds to your student's account on FACTS. If you're having trouble accessing the financial tab in the Family Portal (and haven't already contacted the office), please call us directly.
📌 New FACTS district code: PITT-DIO

🚗 Drop-off & Dismissal: Things will run smoothly, but please be patient as everyone gets used to the routine over the first few days!
🔹 Carline families — please refer to the map sent last week for your dismissal spot based on your student's last name and teacher.
🔹 Bus families — please make sure your child knows their school district and bus number, and be sure to share this info with their homeroom teacher.

🕐 Extended Day Program Update: We're making changes to our Extended Day Program as we work toward OCDEL Certification. If you plan to use Extended Day this school year, please check the attached flier for registration instructions and to reserve your spot.

We're so proud to share that two JFK 8th graders — Jules Moore and Katelyn Kalich — have been selected as finalists for PONY Princess! 🎉💙

Please return your Registration Forms, Fees, AND Physical Forms to the school office ASAP for our two Fall sports at JFK - Girls Volleyball and Cross Country.

Practices for BOTH of these sports begins BEFORE the school year starts. Cross Country practices have already begun and the first Volleyball practice is Wednesday, August 5.

All forms MUST be turned in before athletes will be allowed to practice!

Cross Country is open to ALL K-8 students.

Girls Volleyball is open to girls in Grades 5-8.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

At JFK, every member of our community has unique talents to share. Whether you're handy with a paintbrush, love taking photos, enjoy working outdoors, or have a strong back for lifting, God has blessed you with gifts that can make a difference for our students.

We are currently looking for help painting, cleaning carpets, moving heavy objects, installing blinds, cleaning large industrial fans, spreading much, and general outdoor cleanup.

When we each share the talents God has given us, our entire school community flourishes.

Thank you for helping make JFK a place where every child belongs, every gift is celebrated, and every day reflects God's love.
