**“What did the URA say about the basketball goals?”**

The URA told us to remove the goals on July 18, and we complied on July 19. Shortly afterward, the tennis court gates were secured with a bicycle lock.

We were told we could request access through the URA, so on **July 21, we presented our proposal and submitted it in person to URA members**. We requested permission to use and revitalize the property with our own funding so all children (not just our organization) could have access and enjoy. We answered their questions and emailed the proposal, State of Hope application, budget, and related documents that same evening at 9 p.m.

The URA later said it could not open the email and requested printed copies be turned into the city clerk. We agreed but asked why the *State of Hope* grant documents were needed to approve access?

We have not received an explanation or a decision on our proposal.

**URA has had our proposal for more than two months, but we still have no answer about access.**

It took us several weeks to cover the printer subscription, paper, and ink costs.

The ink arrived today, September 29, and we plan to deliver the proposal (again) along with our documents related to our state of hope grant to the city clerk this week.

We hope, in turn, to receive approval and clear guidance on access requirements and next steps.

To be clear, we are asking for **access to invest** in our community—not a deed or ownership of the property.

In the meantime, we will continue to train kids in our community-when we can, where we can!

🏀 Defense wins games!

On September 23 & 24, our FREE Books & Basketball training sessions will focus on defense.

We’ll work on staying low, moving our feet, closing out, and keeping the ball handler in front of us.

Come ready to move, listen, and put in work! ❤️‍🔥

We’re excited to officially welcome Kai’Mari as one of our newest enrolled players at BOOKS & Basketball Academy! 🎉🔥

As we welcome more players, parents—here’s a quick reminder before training!

Most importantly, come ready to listen, learn, work hard, and have fun! 🏀💪🏽

Our FREE basketball training is all about helping kids build their fundamentals, confidence, discipline, and love for the game!

The kids are showing up.

Now they’re asking when they can come to the Academy. ❤️🏀

We want to be able to say **yes** when a child asks to come study or train with us.

But to say yes, there needs to be a safe place for them to study. To say yes, there needs to be staff here who can work with them. To say yes, we need to have something to eat and drink for them after a long school day. To say yes, we need transportation to pick them up and take them home.

With your help, we can rent and furnish a space for the Academy, buy supplies (and maybe even a charter bus), pay the people who work with our kids, and keep food and drinks available.

Those are the things it takes to turn what we’ve started into a place they can count on.

If you’re able to give, please visit your local F&M Bank and make a deposit to the **BOOKS & Basketball account**. Donations of bottled water, snacks, and meals help us care for the kids right now, too! and can be dropped off at The Washington Arts Center at 108 East Court Street in Washington, GA 30673.

They’re already asking to be here.
Help us get ready to welcome them. ❤️
