**Not every great athlete is an early star 🌟 🏀📚**

At **Books & Basketball Academy**, we believe potential is more important than popularity!!

Some children develop their skills quickly 💨

Others need more time, more encouragement, and more opportunities to grow.

That doesn't mean they're less talented—it means their journey is different. ✨

Our job as coaches, parents, and mentors isn't to compare kids.

It's to create an environment where every child is encouraged to keep showing up, working hard, and believing in themselves.❤️

Champions aren't built overnight…

They're built through consistency, discipline, resilience, and the courage to keep going when no one is cheering yet.

Our mission is bigger than developing better basketball players. We're developing confident students, strong leaders, and young people who understand that success comes from growth—not just trophies.

One of Only 4 ‼️

We are honored to share that **BOOKS & Basketball** was selected as **one of only 4 organizations in Georgia DFCS Region 7**—and **one of just 57 organizations statewide**—to receive a **2026 State of Hope Grant**.

Because of this grant, we were able to purchase our new basketball goal and training equipment, giving us the opportunity to begin building something bigger than basketball.

Now, we need our community's help.

Our next goal is to gain access to the **underused tennis courts in front of the old Gordon Street School** so we can create a safe place where kids can train, learn, and grow together.

The Birth of BOOKS & Basketball ❤️🏀📚

Over the last few decades,
incredibly talented athletes have come and go in WW..

Some were stars.
Some never made the team.
Some had college-level or even national-level talent.

But talent wasn't the problem.

Too many lacked support.
Too many lacked mentorship.
Too many lacked academic guidance.
Too many didn't have people consistently pouring into them when it mattered most.

I often found myself wondering...

**What if someone had simply believed in them?**
**What if they had access to the right resources?**
**How many lives could have taken a different path?**

Those questions became the reason we founded **BOOKS & Basketball** in 2023.

We believe the best time to change a child's future isn't after they've fallen through the cracks..
—it's before.

Our mission is to help young people grow as students, athletes, leaders, and members of their community.

We exist to provide encouragement, education, mentorship, life skills, and opportunities that help unlock the potential that's already inside them.

Every child has greatness!

Sometimes all they need is a team that refuses to let them face the journey alone.

That's WHY we're building here, in WW.

Remember all those athletes you went to school with?

Some weren't even on the school team,
but everyone knew they had college-level
—or even national-level—talent.

Now think about where most of them ended up….

Then ask yourself this:

**Could a nonprofit focused on education, mentorship, support services, and athlete development have changed the outcome for even one of them?**

Talent opens doors.

—> Guidance, opportunity, and a strong support system help KEEP them open.

That's the future we're working to build…
