Plenty of children read quickly and accurately and still cannot tell you what the paragraph said.

Ellen Doman explains why. Comprehension is less a reading skill than a processing skill. If a child can only hold a few pieces of information at once, the meaning falls out of the sentence before they reach the period. Decoding is fine. The bucket is too small.
