The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and ACSA are pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Steel Design Student Competition.

This competition challenged students to explore various design issues related to the use of steel in design and construction. Students had the opportunity to compete in two different categories. Category I invited students to design a Community Dance Center that will serve as an integral part of the civic fabric. Category II presented students with the opportunity to select a site and building program of their choice, using steel as the primary material.

In July 2026, architectural educators, practitioners, and students joined together in Magandjin–Meanjin (Brisbane), Australia, for the 2026 AASA/ACSA International Conference: Planetary Practice. Organized in partnership with the Association of Architecture Schools of Australasia (AASA), Planetary Practices explored how design responds to the expansive and interconnected questions of our time on a global scale.

Attendees gained valuable insights, sparked meaningful conversations, explored Queensland through exciting tours, and connected with colleagues from around the world.

This week, ACSA President June Williamson joined the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) Annual Conference and General Meeting, hosted by the University of Cagliari. 🇮🇹

Under the theme “XS–S–M: Architecture of the Fitting,” the conference invited attendees from across Europe and beyond to reconsider questions of scale, relevance, and appropriateness in architecture.

During the “Meet the EAAE Partners” session, Williamson presented ACSA’s endeavors to prepare the next generation of architects and creators of a healthy, sustainable, and equitable built environment to an audience of international faculty.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our partners worldwide to advance architectural education globally.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Housing and Community Development (HCD) Knowledge Community, and ACSA are pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Housing Education Prize.

The winning course proposals will prepare students for a wide range of professional contexts, including design practice, development, policy, advocacy, research, and public service. Each course will be taught at ACSA member schools across the U.S. in the coming years.

ACSA is empowering emerging faculty with upcoming conference travel grant opportunities. ✈️

These travel grants recognize that conferences benefit from the attendance of faculty who may face obstacles to inclusion in architectural education, and aim to provide opportunities for them to expand their networks.

12 travel grants will support qualified emerging faculty seeking to attend the ACSA Administrators Conference (Submission Deadline: September 23, 2026) and the 115th ACSA Annual Meeting (Submission Deadline: December 16, 2026).

Honor Community Engaged Design Education by Submitting to the 2027 Collaborative Practice Award! 🤝

This award recognizes ACSA’s commitment to community partnerships in which faculty, students, and neighborhood citizens are valued equally and that aim to address issues of social injustice through design.

Previous winners include collaborative research on architectural preservation, neighborhood spaces created in partnership with the local community, and projects aimed at revitalizing local cultures.

ACSA Member School faculty may submit by September 23, 2026.
