Ryker, a German Shepherd in service-dog training, reportedly lost focus during an evaluation after becoming distracted by a stuffed elephant.

He failed the test, but his owner decided to buy him the elephant anyway.

Later, Ryker was spotted proudly carrying the plush toy through a train station, and the adorable scene went viral online.

The story has been widely shared, but its details have not been independently confirmed by major news outlets.

Russell O’Grady began working at a McDonald’s in Northmead, Sydney, in 1986 when he was 18. He found the opportunity through Jobsupport, an initiative that helped people with intellectual disabilities find paid employment.

He started with tasks such as packing party boxes, cleaning and greeting customers, and eventually became a familiar and much-loved face at the restaurant. Some regular customers even visited specifically on the days Russell was working.

After 32 years at McDonald’s, Russell retired in 2018 at the age of 50, partly to focus on his health. His long career became an inspiring example of how inclusive employment can give people with intellectual disabilities a sense of purpose and independence.

Matthew Stanford Robison was born in 1988 with severe disabilities and was expected to live only a few hours. Despite that prognosis, he lived for 10½ years, surrounded by his family.

He died peacefully in his sleep in 1999. After his death, his father, Ernest Robison, created a bronze memorial showing Matthew rising from his wheelchair and reaching toward the sky.

The sculpture represents Matthew finally being free from the physical limitations he experienced throughout his life. His family wanted the memorial to represent hope and happiness rather than sadness.

The memorial stands at Salt Lake City Cemetery and has become a powerful symbol of freedom, love,

A child in Brazil reportedly went to the police to complain that his “uncle” had pushed him to the ground.

When the police looked into it, they discovered that his “uncle” was only 5 years old too.

Rather than taking the complaint too seriously, the police officer and the child’s mother played along with the situation, turning it into a funny moment.

The incident later went viral on social media, with people reacting to it and making jokes about the unusual situation.

Goliath, a GalĂĄpagos tortoise born in 1890, became a father for the first time at Zoo Miami at the age of 134. He had spent decades breeding with females but had never successfully produced a hatchling.

In January 2025, a female tortoise named Sweet Pea laid eight eggs. After 128 days of incubation, one egg hatched on June 4, marking Goliath’s first known offspring and the first successful Galápagos tortoise hatch at Zoo Miami.

Sweet Pea is also remarkably old, estimated to be between 85 and 100 years old. The hatchling was healthy and active after emerging and was cared for separately, as GalĂĄpagos tortoise parents do not raise their young.

Blood Falls is a real phenomenon at Taylor Glacier in Antarctica’s McMurdo Dry Valleys. Iron-rich, extremely salty brine periodically seeps from beneath the glacier, creating the dramatic blood-red stain.

The brine is believed to have been isolated beneath the glacier for at least 1.5 million years. Its high salt content helps keep the water liquid even in Antarctica’s extreme cold.

The water itself isn’t naturally red. It contains dissolved iron, and when the brine reaches the surface and encounters oxygen, the iron becomes oxidized, producing the distinctive rusty red color.

Scientists have also found microorganisms living in this cold, dark and salty environment.

Kenny Waters spent 18 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit.

His sister, Betty Anne, had dropped out of high school but later earned her GED, went to college, and became a lawyer to prove his innocence.

DNA testing helped clear Kenny, leading to his release in 2001.

Tragically, only six months later, he suffered a fatal head injury after falling about 15 feet from a wall.

His story later inspired the film Conviction, which showed Betty Anne's determined fight to free her brother from prison.
