Congratulations to Octavio Cuenca Maldonado, a valued member of Nuestra Casa’s advisory board, on being honored with the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award by the Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) for 2026.

What does perseverance look like at Gallaudet? It looks like Idaly Pacheco. As a Nuestra Casa student assistant, she offers an example of resilience in action. Through her journey at Gallaudet, she shows how commitment, determination, and passion can drive both academic and community impact.

She is also the 2026 recipient of the BSW (undergraduate social work) Professional Development Award, which “demonstrates exceptional professional growth during the major as reflected in performance in social work courses and internship.”
