Our Beyond the Beats music workshops are thoughtfully curated and designed to bring generations together through the universal language of music. This workshop took place on June 30, 2026 at the historic Sankofa Bookstore attended by DC Summer Youth Employment students.

For the past 6 years, we’ve been creating transformative experiences that inspire connection, spark meaningful conversations, and deepen awareness of music’s incredible power to heal, unite, and empower.

If you’re looking for a workshop that goes beyond entertainment and leaves a lasting impact, Beyond the Beats is that experience.

DM me to learn more about bringing a Beyond the Beats workshop to your school or organization. It just might change the way you experience music forever!

HoodSmart is an education initiative created by master educator, Ateya Ball-Lacy to provide a platform to celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and genius of Black youth.

🎶🔥 JUNE IS BLACK MUSIC MONTH! 🔥🎶

We’re excited to announce the return of our HIGHLY sought-after music workshops! 🙌🏾

Join us for FREE engaging and impactful youth & family music workshops designed to inspire critical thinking about the music we consume every day.

At our workshops, we don’t tell students what to think or what music to like. Instead, we introduce a powerful tool that helps students discover for themselves whether their favorite songs are constructive or destructive to their community.

The revelations are REAL. The conversations are POWERFUL. The experience is unforgettable. First up,
