In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Middle School Vocal Majors created a special read-aloud of Sing with Me: The Story of Selena Quintanilla, featuring a musical tribute to “Como La Flor.”

Every student participated, including some who are reluctant readers. What makes the Wolfpack team most proud is seeing them step outside their comfort zones, find their courage, and encourage one another throughout the process. ❤️

Our fellows from Howard University, came to work with our 8th grade scholars as they prepare for their Capstone Project. We’re bridging the gap in the community between younger and older scholars. Thank you to Coach Domo for arranging this amazing opportunity!

Our 6th grade CapX scholars were back on the move! Scholars in Savannah State went to the Owens Science Center in Greenbelt, Maryland to explore how the Earth, sun , and moon work together to create seasons and lunar phases. Our scholars in Temple went to the National Museum of African American History and Culture and ventured to the Leveling the Playing Field exhibit. Here, they explored the question they’ve been discussing in ELA: how can enduring tremendous hardships contribute to personal transformation?

What an unforgettable experience! Kwame Alexander, author of The Crossover, our 8th-grade Module 1 text, visited Woodridge, and our Armstrong scholars had the amazing opportunity to join in on the excitement!

Experiences like these bring literature to life and inspire our scholars to see the power of their own stories. One friendship, endless possibilities!

Mathematical thinking deserves strong writing! 🧮✍🏽

Ms. Cook intentionally incorporated writing practice into her math block, giving scholars opportunities to explain their reasoning and communicate their thinking clearly. Scholars even used the SBAC rubric to provide meaningful feedback to one another! 👏🏽

This is what purposeful instruction looks like: connecting skills across subjects, making expectations clear, and empowering scholars to learn from each other. Shout out to Ms. Cook for creating space for our scholars to grow as mathematicians, writers, and thoughtful peers!
