In recent Franklin Art Studio adventures, our students experimented with sculpting! They transformed everyday recyclables—like cut-up cardboard boxes, egg cartons, and aluminum foil—into sculptures and then covered them in plaster of Paris and painted them for the finishing touch. The final products are just as unique as the childrens' personalities! 🎨

Our students have been immersed in artistic exploration over the past month, guided by the amazing Mr. Jack & Ms. Mikaela! 🎨 Through hands-on sessions in small groups, they've delved into various art forms and techniques with access to a wide array of tools and mediums. From drawing and painting to clay sculpting, their opportunity for creative expression is endless! 🖼️ Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming Art Nights during which we will proudly showcase their masterpieces.

We welcomed some special guests to Franklin last week! Mr. Ray and Andy the Great Dane from City Dogs and City Kitties stopped by to give a presentation about their organization and accept a check proudly presented by our third year students with the hard-earned proceeds from the Franklin Bake Sale. A huge thank you to our amazing community for making the sale a success and helping teach our children about the importance of giving back!

Adventures in the art studio! Primary children have been exploring block printing, the process of using an object to make an inked impression on a plain surface. This early technique of giving color and pattern to fabric and paper has been around for nearly 4,000 years and gave our students the opportunity to put their creativity to excellent use! 🎨

Beyond the Walls is one of our signature programs here at Franklin. Through the guidance of our Nature Specialist, the beauty and marvels of our world aren't confined to the classroom: we venture beyond the walls, into the outdoors, to become immersed in nature. We are especially grateful for our proximity to Rock Creek Park and easy access to lush trees, blossoming plants, and hiking trails! 🌳🌸🌿
