Returning to graduate school after years in industry, navigating personal loss, and balancing rigorous academic demands, Md. Mazharul Islam’s journey is a testament to perseverance, growth, and purpose-driven ambition. His path highlights how resilience, supportive mentorship, and a strong research environment can transform challenges into meaningful achievement.

With guidance from his academic advisors, including Dr. Hossain Azam, Mazharul successfully earned his second Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Water & Environmental) from the University of the District of Columbia—marking a significant milestone in his professional and research career.

Conference: "National Conference on Environmental Reforms: Necessity and the Way Forward"

Organized by: Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) In association with Universities, research institutions, and pro-environment organizations and networks in Bangladesh

Date: January 9–10, 2026

Venue: Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), Khamarbari Road, Farmgate, Dhaka 1215

Papers are invited for presentation at the conference on the above themes. Submissions may be written in either Bangla or English. Papers should focus on Bangladesh’s environmental reform needs, but may include comparative or international insights where relevant.

Submission Schedule:
• December 25, 2025: Abstract submission (maximum 400 words)
• December 27, 2025: Notification of abstract acceptance
• December 31, 2025: Full paper submission (maximum 10,000 words)

Azam Research Group (ARG) is honored to attend WEFTEC 2025 in Chicago, Illinois, from Monday, September 29 to Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Led by Dr. Hossain M Azam.

WEFTEC, the Water Environment Federation's Technical Exhibition and Conference, is the largest annual water quality event in North America, bringing together professionals for advanced education, training, and collaboration.

ARG gratefully acknowledges the Water Environment Federation for awarding scholarships to its students (WEF InFLOW, WEF Operator Scholarship, and WEF Communication Scholarship), DC Water for supporting student presentations (with special thanks to Dr. Khoa Nam Ngo and Dr. Haydee De Clippeleir), and the National Science Foundation (special thanks to Dr. Higgs) for funding conference travel and participation.

ISBM (International Society of Bangladesh-Affiliated Microbiologists) is organizing the ISBM International E-Conference 2025 on September 6–7, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday), to be held virtually from 9:30 AM–1 PM (US-EST) and 7:30–11 PM (Bangladesh time). ISBM is a voluntary, nonprofit, and nonpolitical organization of microbiology professionals, registered and headquartered in Maryland, USA. Additionally, it strives to provide training, mentoring, and organize various professional development programs to enhance foundational skills required to succeed as a student and early career professional.
