Lonesome Seven Ranch, circa 1987. ❤️🔥
Back then, the coffee was black, the trucks were square-body, the radios stayed tuned to country, alil rock n roll, and nobody left the house without a good hat and enough hairspray to survive a north wind.
Mornings started before daylight. Horses got fed before people did. By breakfast, somebody had already fixed a fence, checked cattle, or gotten bucked off something they probably shouldn’t have climbed on in the first place.
Afternoons were spent horseback, usually with more denim, pearl snaps and fringe than anybody needed. The horses had bigger hair too, apparently.
Friday nights meant cleaning the dust off your boots, piling into the pickup and heading to whatever little honky-tonk had a dance floor, a pool table and a jukebox. Somebody always knew somebody. Somebody always stayed too late. And by sunrise Saturday morning, everybody was right back at the ranch like nothing happened.
There weren’t cell phones. No GPS. No social media. If somebody needed you, they knew where to find you.
And out here, life wasn’t moving quite as fast anyway.
Different decade. Same dirt. Wilder horses.
Some things never go out of style.
