Members of the Institute for Global and International Studies (IGIS) are united by an interest in global and international challenges and in how rigorous, multidisciplinary thinking can prevent and solve key problems, leading to a safer and more sustainable future. Our Institute is located within the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. IGIS focuses on: governanc

e and law; human rights; international development and aid effectiveness; gender, social equality and justice; migration, refugees and population change, urbanization and environment; social inclusion for the prevention of disasters and crises; improved response and relief; ethics and values in global, international, and local relations. IGIS members include a range of social scientists, from economics, cultural anthropology and geography to faculty with law degrees and medical degrees. IGIS welcomes post-doctoral and pre-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and Practitioners-in-Residence. IGIS houses and supports several research programs and working groups that contribute to knowledge, dialogue, and policy engagement.
