SOLD OUT! Thank you, everyone, for supporting me during this incredible journey. What started as an avenue to cope with grief has turned into one of my proudest accomplishments. I wish my parents were here to enjoy the book, but I was honored to dedicate it in their memory. As I reflect on the past few months with Christmas in the Mountain State, I am filled with gratitude.
- I drove more than 4,000 miles
- Endured 2 car breakdowns
- Met thousands of West Virginians and reunited with old teachers, friends, and family
- Made 22 stops on my book tour
- Visited 8 West Virginia schools
- Held 6 book signings
- Participated in 8 vendor fairs
- Sold 1,500 copies
- Signed 1,200 books
- Had my books sold in 8 state parks and over 10 stores throughout WV
- Completed 2 TV interviews, 2 podcasts, and received 15 press hits
More importantly than the stats, I was able to share my story with so many people. It has been an honor to have my work in the hands of numerous children and families, something I hope they will cherish for years to come. Christmas in the Mountain State means different things to different people. For some, it evoked a much-needed feeling of home. For others, it brings to mind cherished loved ones, symbolized by the red cardinal. I have heard touching stories about how the book will now be part of new traditions, was given as a Christmas gift, and even served as a first book for newborns.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping this dream become a reality. My success is a direct result of your support, and I am truly grateful. I particularly want to brag on my illustrator, Drew, for producing some of the most beautiful illustrations. I hope that the book will inspire students to dream big and help people discover what a great state West Virginia is. This book is my love letter to the home that has given me so much, told through the eyes of Jay, the red cardinal. So, where will Jay fly to next?
