The University of the District of Columbia community came together today in reflection and remembrance during our 9/11 Memorial Ceremony.
The ceremony honored teacher Sara M. Clark, student Asia Cottom and four other students and teachers from our community whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001.
We join in remembrance of their lives, honor their legacies and stand together as a community.

Ready to turn your purpose into impact?
Apply to the University of the District of Columbia’s new Master of Social Work program. All majors are welcome, and the program’s hybrid format combines online learning with strategically scheduled in-person experiences.
Students may choose between two specialized tracks:
• Civic and community engagement
• Trauma prevention, intervention and recovery
Classes begin in October 2026.
Application deadline: September 18, 2026.
Fall 2026 applicants should select Spring 2027 admission in the UDC application.

UDC Community College has officially opened its new Nursing Simulation Center, creating an innovative space where students can build the clinical skills, confidence and decision-making abilities needed for successful careers in health care.
The center allows nursing students to practice realistic patient care scenarios, strengthen communication and teamwork skills, and gain valuable experience before entering clinical settings. The facility was dedicated in honor of longtime UDC nursing educator Susie Cato, whose decades of service have helped shape generations of nurses.
As UDC celebrates 175 years of service, this investment reflects the university's ongoing commitment to preparing skilled health care professionals who will serve Washington, DC, and the surrounding region.
