Launched by the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) in 2009, Energy In Depth (EID) is a research, education and public outreach campaign focused on getting the facts out about the promise and potential of responsibly developing America’s onshore energy resource base – especially abundant sources of oil and natural gas from shale and other “tight” formations across the country. It’s an effort that benefits directly from the support, direction and technical expertise of a broad segment of America’s oil and natural gas industry, led in Washington by IPAA, and guided on the ground by IPAA’s more than 6,000 members and affiliates in the states. Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency next oil and natural gas proposal is coming sooner rather than later. The detail worth watching when it comes out: two co-proposed options that would give low-producing marginal wells their own standards instead of treating them like big-pad operations.

Middlesex County just filed a new climate lawsuit against energy companies just days before the Supreme Court hears a major related case. Not to mention on the heels of New Jersey's own case being dismissed and Maryland's cases falling apart. What is even stranger, large portions of the complaint appear to be a near copy-paste of Hoboken's original 2020 filing — one that Hoboken's own lawyers deliberately revised back in 2023.
