Midwifery isn’t just about catching babies.
It’s healing work.
It’s heart work.
It’s soul work.
It’s spiritual.
It’s selfless.
It takes a special kind of individual to commit themselves to doing THEE work.

Today, on the International Day of the Midwife, we want to amplify the midwives who have made a direct impact in our lives.
Check our stories to see them.

And to all the midwives reading this, we thank you for all that you do in your community.
We know this work isn’t easy, and we appreciate you.
Please take care of yourselves.
Prioritize self-care.
Rest.
Pour into yourselves.
Do the things that bring you joy.
Don’t lose you.

YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

Last day of Black Maternal Health Week—but let’s be clear, this work doesn’t clock out. 🤍✊🏾✨

As we close this week with The Cypher Collective, we’re not just honoring the voices that carried us—we’re making space for the ones coming up behind us. The youth aren’t “the future” in some distant way… they’re already here, already watching, already shaping what comes next.

If we’re serious about birth justice, we have to bring them in on purpose.

Not just inspiration—real access. Real tools. Real proximity.
That means: Inviting them into the rooms where conversations are happening

Letting them see birth work in real life, not just online
Teaching them the history AND the skills

Making space for their questions, their ideas, their vision
And most importantly… listening without trying to control the narrative
Because Black mamas deserve care that is rooted, protected, and whole.

And our youth deserve to inherit more than a crisis—they deserve a blueprint.

Let’s tap in together 👇🏾
💬 If you’re part of the next generation, what changes do YOU want to see in maternal care?
💬 What’s something you wish more young people understood about Black maternal health?
💬 Tag a young advocate, student, or future birth worker who’s already walking in purpose

Pour into them. Stand beside them. Pass it forward.
This movement doesn’t end. It grows. 🌱

Black maternal health deserves more than awareness, it deserves action✊🏾💫

Midwives show us what that looks like:
care that listens, time that isn’t rushed, and support that sees the whole person.

Because when Black women are trusted, respected, and truly heard—
outcomes change. Lives are saved.

This is what community care looks like. ✨🤍

This week— and every week afterwards is about centering Black mamas, honoring lived experiences, and telling the truth about a system that has too often failed us.

Because this has never been random. It’s structural. And it’s preventable.

But so is healing.
So is community.
So is change.

Our care has always existed—through midwives, doulas, and the wisdom passed down long before systems tried to erase it. And when we are seen, heard, and supported, outcomes shift. Lives are saved.

This week, we speak up. We show up. We build forward.
Because Black families deserve safe, respectful, and dignified care—every time.

Last day of and we made it one to remember 🌿✨

Audrey & Hadassah got called away to a birth (as they should 👏🏾), but even in their absence, they were right there with us in spirit. That’s the thing about this work, you’re always being called to show up, somewhere, for somebody.

So the crew—Cairiel, Trinity, Kandice, and our good sis Uchenna—headed to the Emancipation Tree in Hampton. A place that holds real weight. This tree stands near where formerly enslaved people gathered to learn, build, and reclaim their futures through education.

We touched it, leaned into it, and just took a moment to feel all that history. Grounding ourselves in what came before us while walking boldly in what we’re called to do now.

Full circle kind of day. Heavy. Beautiful. Necessary.

🕯️ Day 4 Recap: Arise Black Midwife Ceremony 🕯️

The Cypher Collective stood in a moment that felt both sacred and full circle. Every candle lit, every sash placed, every embrace shared… it meant something.

“Arise Black Midwife” is more than words, it’s a charge. A reminder that we are walking in alignment with something generations deep and future-forward at the same time.

We honor the elders.
We celebrate the present.
And we step boldly into the future of Black birth work—together.

Still standing in gratitude. Still rising. 🤍🤲🏾💜💫

Stepping into excellence and pure Black midwifery magic 💫

The Cypher Collective showed up and showed OUT at the National Black Midwives Conference Gala—celebrating the brilliance, resilience, and sacred work of birth workers across generations. From honoring our elders to pouring into one another, this night was nothing short of powerful.

Grateful to be in rooms where Black midwives are laughing, centered, celebrated, and thriving 💜✨

Soaking in the beauty of last week at the National Black Midwives Alliance Conference 💜✨

To be in rooms filled with Black midwives actively doing the work —serving, advocating, protecting, and pouring into our communities was nothing short of powerful. The wisdom shared, the laughter, the real conversations, and the legacy in the room… you could feel it in every moment.

This wasn’t just a conference, it was alignment. A reminder that this work is bigger than us and that we’re walking in the footsteps of giants while building something even stronger for the generations coming behind us.

Grateful to learn, connect, and be poured into by some of the most brilliant, compassionate, and dedicated birth workers out here. The mission is alive and well 💫
