Unfortunately, the 2020 Writing Center Awards have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Given the unprecedented levels of stress and disconnection that our staff, tutors, and fellow students are experiencing, we feel that it is not prudent to continue with the Writing Center Awards at this time, as those involved are not able to produce their best work.
That said, the Georgetown University Writing Center remains committed to elevating and celebrating the work of our peers in the Georgetown community, alongside our partners at U.S. News & World Report. The Writing Center will continue to provide virtual tutoring sessions for the remainder of this semester and beyond as necessary.
We would also like to specify the following:
-All submissions for this year’s Awards will automatically be re-submitted for the 2021 Awards cycle.
-The 2021 Awards will be open to any papers written during either the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year.
-For those applicants who will be graduating this school year, their papers from the 2019-2020 cycle will still be eligible for an award in the 2020-2021.
Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] with any further questions. Again, we apologize sincerely to all those impacted by this cancelation, but we look forward to reading and recognizing your hard work next spring.
