How do I know if my baby is getting the amount of ounces it needs in a day?

It is hard to tell and can be frustrating to parents to tell how much milk a breastfed baby is getting. Every baby’s feed will look different, but it is important that mom is nursing 8-12 times per 24 hours. Many times, during a nursing session mom or baby will fall asleep and the feed will take longer than usual. It is important to notice if baby’s latch is strong and if baby is actually swallowing when latched. Sometimes if a baby is done feeding they will use mom’s ni**le as a pacifier and a way to soothe themselves. A huge indicator of adequate milk intake is weight gain in baby.
