-Saturday, June 11th - Pride Block Party! Following the Pride Parade, Lambda members will meet in Stead Park at 7:30 PM to attend the Block Party together!

We're happy to announce our Team's participation in Whitman Walker Health's 5K Walk to End HIV was a great success! We reached and surpassed our second fundraising goal with $796 donated. On Saturday, October 24, a group of us met by the Georgetown Waterfront Park, and walked the 5K together.

Dear Lambda community,

Every year GW Lambda Law participates in Whitman Walker's 5K Walk to End HIV by raising funds and gathering up folks to participate in the event. As you may know, Whitman Walker provides high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible health services to our community, especially those living with HIV and aids. This year the importance of this effort is underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic, that has illuminated long-standing disparities we know far too well. The event is scheduled for October 24th, but will be taking place virtually.

If you are interested in joining the team effort of fundraising or would like to donate on our behalf, please go to the link below. We have the objective of raising $500 for this great cause. We think we can easily achieve this with your help!

Today is and, like clockwork, state legislators are once again working to further marginalize our transgender siblings. Overnight, Idaho Governor Brad Little signed two bills into law that specifically target transgender people. Efforts to deny transgender people basic human rights and equal protection under the law are nothing new, but are especially pernicious when they are done in the midst of a global pandemic. So on this day of celebration and awareness, Lambda Law would like to share the following article and encourage everyone who believes in equality and the rule of law to affirm that

It’s Never Okay to Attack Trans Youth, But Especially Not During a Global Health Crisis State and federal leaders are prioritizing harming trans young people during a historic catastrophe.

The Lambda Law Alumni Association will be hosting an online election to select its new board. The current Lambda Board is actively seeking new applicants as there will be several vacancies coming up at the end of the current Board’s term! Applicants do not need to be based in D.C. or the East Coast, and we have found it quite useful to have geographic diversity among board members.

Any current 3L who is graduating in May 2020 (or current alumnus) may submit a candidacy statement.

Candidacy statements are due online by Monday, March 2.

Elections will be held online from Monday, March 9, through Monday, March 16.

The new Board will take office in May 2020 for a two-year term.
