Dear FMST Community,
I'm thrilled to share with you the IndieWire Project of the Day, an upcoming documentary produced by Georgetown 2012 graduate, Reilly Dowd. Reilly has shared the following description of her film:
"The Language of Laughter is a character-driven feature documentary about two young women from completely different worlds—Hanadi, a Syrian refugee mother, and Timea, an uninhibited European clowndoctor. One is convinced that civil war has robbed her of the happiness she once had, the other, on a mission to change it all through laughter. Amidst the collateral damage of a Syria’s bloody civil war, the film follows Hanadi and Timea’s journey as their worlds become intertwined. Executive produced by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Joe Berlinger, the film is primarily set in Zaatari Refugee Camp, a sprawling tent city situated just a few miles from the Syrian border."
Reilly recently released a brand new trailer, as part of a 30-day crowd-funding campaign. She needs your support to get this inspiring project across the finish line! They have just 6 days left to reach a $30,000 goal.

Hoyawood is a student-run film club entirely devoted to the appreciation and understanding of film as a whole. As Georgetown’s newest film club, Hoyawood hopes to bring a variety of speakers from the industry to campus, and also to engage the larger student body in a conversation about the importance of film in our ever-changing society. Our first event of the year is a screening of the critically acclaimed, Oscar winning documentary, Amy, which will take place this Thursday, April 21st at 7 pm in the Film and Media Studies Classroom in the HFSC. We will be screening the film and then having a discussion with Andy Markowitz from the Huffington Post about the film afterward. We hope to see you all there!
