NABE National Association for Bilingual Education- The only national professional organization devoted to

Since 1975, the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) has been a non-profit membership organization that works to advocate for educational equity and excellence for bilingual/multilingual students in a global society. NABE’s priorities include: Improving instructional practices for linguistically and culturally diverse children; providing bilingual educators with more high-quality professional development opportunities; securing adequate funding for the programs serving limited-English-proficient students; and keeping the rights of language-minority Americans clearly in focus as states and communities move forward with educational reforms.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Today, we honor the strength, resilience, cultures, languages, and knowledge of Indigenous peoples—past, present, and future.

Indigenous languages carry generations of history, identity, wisdom, and ways of understanding the world. As educators and advocates for multilingualism, may we continue creating spaces where every language is valued, every culture is respected, and every learner knows their voice belongs.

✨ This Monday, let us be inspired to listen, learn, honor, and uplift.

🍎 Motivational Monday | World Teachers’ Day 🌎✨

Today, we celebrate the educators who do so much more than teach lessons — they inspire confidence, open doors, honor identities, and help students find their voices.

For bilingual and multilingual learners, teachers have the incredible opportunity to show students that their languages, cultures, and stories are strengths worth celebrating. 💙

This World Teachers’ Day, NABE celebrates the educators who make every language feel valued and every learner feel seen.

✨ Keep inspiring. Keep advocating. Keep changing lives — one student, one word, and one connection at a time.

Happy World Teachers’ Day! 🍎🌍

🚨 LESS THAN ONE WEEK LEFT: Make Your Voice Heard for Head Start

NABE continues to strongly oppose the proposed English-only mandate for Head Start.

Multilingualism is an asset. Children should not have to lose access to their home languages in order to learn English. Home languages strengthen family connections, cultural identity, learning, and healthy development.

📣 The deadline is approaching — now is the time to speak up.

We urge educators, families, advocates, researchers, affiliates, and community partners to submit a public comment opposing this proposal.

📅 Public Comment Deadline: October 6, 2026

Every comment matters. Every voice helps advocate for Head Start children and families and the value of multilingualism in our communities.

🔁 Please share this message with your networks and encourage others to submit their comments before the deadline.
