SNMA/MAPS is helping save lives — and your chapter can be part of it.
Through our partnership with NMDP, we’re competing with chapters nationwide to increase education, registry sign-ups, and follow-up engagement that directly impacts patients in need of life-saving cell therapy.
Here’s how we earn points:
• Host a 30-minute educational session to spread awareness about NMDP
• Encourage registry participants to respond to follow-up messages to boost response rates
Every action matters. Every response matters. Every person added to the registry brings someone closer to a second chance at life.
Top chapters win prizes, but the real win is the impact we make together.
Let’s show up, educate, and save lives.

This week, we’re proud to spotlight the exceptional work of the MAPS chapter at Texas A&M University!
The chapter consistently gives back to its community through meaningful service and hands-on involvement. Members volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, helping build homes and supporting the organization through work at the donation center. They also partner with the Brazos Valley Food Bank, where they package meals and work to reduce food insecurity in their local community. Through these efforts, MAPS Texas A&M is turning compassion into action and exemplifying community service.
In addition to their community impact, the chapter continues to invest in student development. They hosted a presentation from Dr. Rhodes, who shared his personal journey to medicine, offering insight into the pathways, challenges, and motivations that shaped his career.
Thank you, Texas A&M University MAPS, for your commitment to hands-on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and building a supportive community. Your dedication helps shape compassionate future physicians. Your impact is felt far beyond campus.

Behind the scenes, our MAPS National Leaders from across all chapters work tirelessly to serve our mission, provide opportunities, and showcase the incredible work of our community. To every leader: thank you for the heart and soul you put in this year. Your work does not go unnoticed.
At our Premedical Luncheon during this year’s AMEC, our Vice Chairs had the opportunity to nominate and choose one leader from each of our three committees who consistently stayed on top of their tasks and went above and beyond.
Please join us in celebrating our 2025-2026 Committee Members of the Year:
MiLani Terrell | MAPS Administrative Affairs who served as our Lead External Affairs Liaison
Reynaldo Denaud | MAPS Programmatic Affairs of Events who served as one of our Post-Bacc Student Coordinators
Anthony Dongfack | MAPS Programmatic Affairs of Initiatives who served as one of our Community Service Liaisons

This week, we’re highlighting some of the impactful experiences from UToledo
They had the opportunity to explore the UTMC Simulation Center, engaging with the Intubation Lab and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery, gaining hands on exposure to clinical skills and surgical techniques
In the spirit of service, they created Valentine’s Day cards for residents at the Divine Nursing Home in Toledo, sharing small moments of care and connection with the community
They also hosted a How to Apply to Medical School event in collaboration with SNMA, where Dr. Kim provided guidance and insight into the application process
Experiences like these continue to shape the journey in medicine, combining learning, service, and mentorship in meaningful ways.

This week we’re proud to spotlight the exceptional work of the MAPS chapter at Carleton College!
Members took part in an intensive Emergency Response Simulation workshop titled “Care During the First 5 Minutes of a Trauma.” Led by “Doc.” Walt and “Doc.” Jess from the Mayo Clinic, the session gave students a realistic, hands‑on introduction to immediate trauma care. Participants practiced critical techniques including hemorrhage control, airway management, and rapid patient assessment, and learned how to prioritize interventions when seconds count. The instructors emphasized teamwork and clear communication under pressure, using scenario‑based drills to help students develop decision‑making skills and calm, efficient responses in high‑stress situations.
Beyond clinical skills, the chapter strengthened academic and social connections on campus by hosting a STEM faculty mixer that brought students face-to-face with professors across Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Psychology. The event provided an informal forum to ask questions about coursework, research opportunities, and career paths, and helped students build mentoring relationships with faculty members.
To balance intense learning with community building, the chapter also organized a game night that gave members a chance to relax, recharge, and connect outside the classroom. The mix of rigorous training, faculty engagement, and social programming reflects MAPS Carleton’s holistic approach to professional development: preparing students clinically, academically, and personally for future roles in medicine and allied fields.
Thank you, Carleton MAPS, for your commitment to hands‑on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and supportive community. Your efforts are shaping compassionate future clinicians.
