🚨 IS ANYONE AWAKE IN GW ADMIN?
DMVSJP is a regional coalition of SJP chapters and is now publicly engaging with GW student organizations, appearing in The Hatchet alongside them, and promoting activity connected to the GW campus.

So why is this happening while SJPGWU remains suspended?

Is DMVSJP simply another organization engaging with GW or is it effectively filling the space left by the suspended chapter?

What proactive oversight is GW using to ensure a suspension actually has meaning? And if students are involved in activity that violates university policy, what consequences follow?

Different organization. Same campus network. GW needs to explain where the line is and who is enforcing it.

🚨 THE APA WAS WATCHING GW. WHO WAS WATCHING THE APA?

GW’s Professional Psychology Program was specifically cited in a federal review of the American Psychological Association (APA), the professional organization that accredits psychology programs through its Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA).

A Department of Education committee voted 7–4 to recommend suspending APA-CoA’s federal recognition for one year, questioning its oversight of 1,300+ accredited psychology programs.

The GW case involved a 2023 federal civil-rights complaint alleging antisemitic treatment of Jewish and Israeli students in a required Diversity Sequence I course. OCR investigated, and GW reached a January 2025 resolution requiring policy reviews, record retention, a campus climate survey and training.

According to the federal report, APA reviewed GW in November 2024 and April 2025, yet was reportedly unaware of the OCR investigation and settlement.

That became an example in the investigation of whether APA-CoA was adequately monitoring its accredited programs.

🚨 GW ADMINISTRATION: ARE YOU ACTUALLY ENFORCING THE GWSJP SUSPENSION?

GWSJP is suspended and disaffiliated from GW, the activity appears to be continuing through DMVSJP with the same network of GW student organizations, collaborations and campus-facing activity.

Now DMVSJP is promoting an upcoming film screening on GW’s campus at the Corcoran Building, alongside GWMSA, GW Socialist Action Initiative (GWSAI), and GW Arab Student Association (ARABSA).

So what exactly was the suspension supposed to accomplish?

A suspension is supposed to stop an organization from operating—not provide a blueprint for continuing the same activity through another chapter, another account and a slightly different name.

Same network. Same collaborations. Same campus. Different label.

GW administration, deans and Student Affairs: are you paying attention or are you allowing a suspended organization to effectively continue operating through a workaround?

If these organizations are genuinely independent, GW should explain what safeguards are in place to ensure the suspension actually means something.

If they aren’t, who is enforcing the suspension?

Because changing the name doesn’t change the activity.

🚨 25 YEARS AFTER 9/11 AND JUST 6 DAYS AFTER THE ANNIVERSARY, GW HOSTED A CONFERENCE TO “RETHINK” THE WAR ON TERROR.

The 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks was September 11, 2026.

On September 17–18 only six days later!!!!!!George Washington University hosted “When Will This War End: Lessons and Legacies of the War on Terror.” GW’s own event page identifies it as “25 Years of the War on Terror.” (Institute for Middle East Studies)

The conference was organized by Muslim Counterpublics Lab and co-sponsored by GW’s Institute for Middle East Studies (IMES). (25 Years of the War on Terror)

We raised concerns BEFORE this event happened.

Now we have a recording from a GW student in which a professor discusses redefining terrorism.

The timing matters. The framing and content matters. The question of who approved it matters!!!!!!

GW: FROM “DELIBERATE INDIFFERENCE” TO CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT?

A new bipartisan Congressional Caucus is putting campus antisemitism, university accountability, and enforcement squarely on Congress’s radar.

→ CONGRESSIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reps. Elise Stefanik and Josh Gottheimer launched the caucus to focus on how universities respond to antisemitism and whether their own policies are actually enforced to protect Jewish students, faculty, and staff.

→ WHY GW SHOULD PAY ATTENTION
Gottheimer’s office specifically names George Washington University among the universities he has previously pressed for concrete plans to protect Jewish students.

For GW, the question is becoming harder to avoid: Are policies actually being enforced, are Jewish students being protected, and what happens when they aren’t?

“SJP GWU” continues to publicly promote events, even after GW suspended the organization and it subsequently disaffiliated from the university.
The actual point of a university suspension is to stop the organization from operating, not simply change its label while the same activity continues.

Related activity has continued throughout that period. GW should clarify who is organizing and sponsoring these activities, whether university policies apply, and how those policies are being enforced.

How many policy violations or documented concerns does it take before the people behind a suspended organization are actually held accountable? Would GW tolerate another suspended student organization continuing to operate publicly under the GW name?

Students, faculty, parents, and alumni should demand transparency, consistent enforcement, and accountability, not just sanctions against an organization’s name.bility for those responsible for organizing campus-related activity.

H.R. 4795 just passed the House and it’s bipartisan! 🇺🇸

The Protect Economic and Academic Freedom Act addresses how federally funded universities participate in certain commercial boycotts targeting Israel and seeks to protect students’ access to academic programs in Israel.

Why does this matter?
What happens on college campuses doesn’t stay on campus. For Jewish students, questions around Israel, academic access, discrimination, and equal treatment have become increasingly important.

H.R. 4795 won’t solve the problem overnight. But it is one more step toward a campus where Jewish students don’t have to fight for what should have been guaranteed from the start.

We’re grateful to the House Education & Workforce Committee, Chairman Tim Walberg, and the members of Congress, House Committee on Education & Workforce Rep. Tim Walberg on both sides of the aisle, who supported this important step toward protecting academic and economic freedom.

GWU Ă— MCL: THE ANTITHESIS OF THE CHANGE GW CLAIMS TO BE MAKING

MCL, the Muslim Counterpublics Lab, is organizing a two-day conference at GWU, co-sponsored by GW’s Institute for Middle East Studies. MCL describes its mission as “challenge, disrupt, and subvert” dominant narratives and uses advocacy, organizing and campaigns to confront what it calls systems of oppression rooted in Islamophobia.

The Sept. 17–18 conference, “When Will This War End,” frames the War on Terror through “U.S. empire,” “genocide,” occupation, state violence and “resistance,” and calls for the abolition of the War on Terror’s infrastructure. Its program includes sessions on criminalizing dissent, Palestine, political prisoners, state violence and organizing.

This is the programming GW is choosing to amplify through IMES and the Elliott School while saying it is working toward a less disruptive, less hostile and more unified campus.

The DOJ found GW “deliberately indifferent” to a hostile educational environment affecting Jewish, Israeli and American-Israeli students, we may not know the full terms of GW’s subsequent commitments.

But this collaboration raises a glaring question: Is GW’s actual programming consistent with the change it says it is pursuing or is it moving in the opposite direction?
