๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŒŸ Exciting News from the Social Justice School! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“š

As we begin this school year with excitement and optimism, it is with immense pride and joy that we share some of our scholar-activistsโ€™ achievements over the last two years. Swipe to see the incredible results! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ“ˆ Remarkable Academic Progress: We're thrilled to announce that our school witnessed the highest increase in PARCC proficiency for a middle school in Ward 5, both for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics! This is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and resilience of our scholar-activists, educators, and the community that supports them.

๐Ÿค Empowering Scholar-Activists: At the heart of our mission is the belief that education and activism go hand in hand. It's deeply gratifying to share that an overwhelming 97% of our scholar-activists participated in a social justice learning expedition this past year. Together, we're nurturing conscious citizens who will shape the future.

๐Ÿ“Š Inspiring Year-to-Year Growth: From the School Year 2021-2022 to 2022-2023, we've seen a 15-point increase in the percentage of our students scoring Level 3 and above. This growth showcases the relentless spirit of our scholar-activists and our educatorsโ€™ unyielding belief in their potential.

We're immensely grateful to each one of you for believing in our vision, for your continuous support, and for being an integral part of this journey. As we gear up for another year of learning and growth, we're motivated more than ever to ensure that our scholar-activists continue to thrive, break barriers, AND champion social justice.

Thank you for being part of the Social Justice School family. Let's continue to dream big and achieve even greater milestones together! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ช

We are so very thankful for our partners . We have three of our scholar-activists participating in a paid internship program! Hereโ€™s what they are saying โ€œWhat Iโ€™m committed to so far being apart of the HWD fellowship is that Iโ€™ll always help my community in any way I can and that Iโ€™ll always pave a way for me and my community to be better people in any way possible. What Iโ€™ve learned about my community so far is that we are living in a world where we are going through things that we should not be as such as poverty, inequality, racism, colonialism and more and to put an end to it we have to come together to find any and every solution to these issuesโ€ S.P. 8th graderโ€”SJS

๐ŸŒŸ A Historic Moment for the Social Justice! School!
๐ŸŒโœŠ

We mark an extraordinary milestone in the journey of our Social Justice School. We are immensely grateful as we celebrate the promotion of our first founding class of 8th graders to high school. Their dedication, resilience, and passion have helped shape our school into a beacon of love, learning, and liberation. ๐ŸŽ“โค๏ธ

We are bursting with excitement to announce that several of our remarkable students have been accepted into some prestigious high schools. These institutions recognize the exceptional talent and potential within our founding class. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of them and wish them continued success on their educational path. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŽ‰

Among the high schools they will be attending, we proudly name a few: Banneker High School, McKinley HS, Coolidge Early College Program, Paul, Girls Global Academy, Thurgood Marshall, KIPP HS, and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. These schools hold a legacy of excellence and offer our students incredible opportunities to further their growth and pursue their dreams. ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒŸ

As we reflect on this historic moment, we acknowledge the tireless efforts of our dedicated teachers, staff, and the wider community who have come together to create an inclusive and empowering environment for our students. This accomplishment would not have been possible without your unwavering support. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ช
