It’s that time of year when my kids need a little extra sight word support both at home and school to push them in their reading! Here are some tips for sight word cards:
⭐️ Make sure students have their bag of cards at school and home
⭐️ add in some words that the student does know to lessen frustration
⭐️ only allow the stars to be colored in when the student is with the teacher

These cards (with 100 words plus editable) are only $2 in our shop if you need some!

Cheesing because it’s a long weekend and we’re getting some much needed Vitamin D ☀️

Grad school while teaching is no joke!! How are you spending the long weekend?

Broke out my cricut for a valentines shirt for myself and it was so nice to craft for fun for the first time in a while 🥰 Hoping you all felt the love from your students and that we don’t go too crazy having a full week after a party 🙃

💖 3 TIPS FOR VALENTINES DAY PARTIES 💖

💌 Have students pass out valentines without adding the names of everyone in the class. It saves so much time and keeps the classroom a lot calmer when they’re passing them out. Learned this one from !

💌 Buy a few extra packs of valentines for kids who didn’t bring any. Stock up for the next year by shopping the day after Valentines Day! The Target dollar spot always has really cute and cheap ones.

💌 Give lots of time for everything. Your room will feel more organized if you’re not rushing through activities and your students have adequate time to clean up after each one. Prioritize your favorite activities and save the rest as back-ups!

What tips would you add to the list?

These drawers are the best for organizing things for students because they fit a full size of paper and are a good size for materials! I currently use it to give students who need adapted materials different activities to do in order but I’ve also used it for a writing center and at my small group table. SO many options 😍 This is the best way to organize materials and keep shelves looking tidy!

⭐️ Activities like this are key to a calm Valentine’s Day celebration ⭐️

Back when I was student teaching, I realized how amped up kids get for holidays. They come to school all dressed up and seem to have 1,000 times more energy than usual.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m into it! It’s so fun to celebrate with students, no matter how small the holiday. But I’ve realized how important it is to have a plan so the chaos is a little more organized.

I made these activities to give students some choice and calm fun during a Valentine’s Day party. They’re especially perfect for while kids are eating snacks or passing out valentines, before you can play games as a class.

How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day with your class this year? If you’re teaching in person and would like these, DM me and I’ll send you a link!

Holy moly was this a WEEK!!

One of my teammates retired in December, and thanks to the teacher shortage, no one was available to fill her position. My other 2 teammates and I each got a third of her class, adding about 7 students to each of our rosters. This was our first week together and I am EXHAUSTED.

I decided to spend some of my planning time today reorganizing our indoor recess cabinet, because let’s be honest, my brain is too fried to do anything else. It’s not perfect but it’s a huge improvement! I love how nicely the photo album bins hold smaller games and Lincoln logs.

Have a restful weekend, teacher friends! ☀️

My kids are finally ready to start stringing some more ideas together and it’s time to break out the flow maps! This is my favorite way to help students organize their thoughts as we get into writing longer pieces ✏️

All 3 bundled available in our TPT store!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but…

Flair pens and ink joys have nothing on Frixion 💁🏻‍♀️ I said it. They write beautifully and erase cleanly- what more could you need?!?

What pen is your favorite these days?

Still obsessed with my plum planner and still using it as a coping mechanism to make it through the year 🤪 It is magic but it can’t make me look any less tired…

Do planners help make you feel better or stress you out more? I have teacher friends who feel both ways!

This game is SO fun to play with small groups and so easy to differentiate! It’s called sight word swat on Amazon and the different color flies correspond to different word lists which makes it perfect to change around for each group 😍 I just shout out a word and they try to get as many flies as they can! Kids love it and it’s pretty inexpensive 🎉
