GW Office for Study Abroad and Student Exchange
The Office for Study Abroad (OSA) provides and facilitates quality international educational opportunities at The George Washington University.
As educators, we promote the academic, personal, professional, and intercultural development of students before, during, and after their study abroad experiences. We respond effectively to student needs, contribute to campus internationalization, and foster cultural understanding and self-awareness among the student body. The OSA primarily works with undergraduate students; some short-term, faculty-led graduate programs are administered through the OSA as well.

Callie : “One of the many fun things that my program did was take us to the Warwick Market in Durban. This market consists of countless stalls selling anything from clothes, food and medicine, to haircuts and IT services. It was a great place to buy souvenirs and try some of the local food!”

: “I’ve always documented my life through a film camera. However, the film camera I was using at the beginning of the semester broke very soon into it. Only recently did I take the time to acquire a new one. While film can be tedious and test my patience, there’s something so special about receiving the surprise that is your developed roll, a little bit after the trip/documented event has ended! Here are some quick snapshots from my trip to Budapest, Vienna, Prague. I totally recommend you acquire a cheap digital camera or point and shoot film camera for any and all adventures you take!”
: “Have you ever written a postcard? That’s certainly what I felt called to do when my ‘quick weekend trip’ turns into hot springs in the Andes, vineyard tours, olive oil tastings, chocolate shops, and unexpected late-night plot twists.
I spent the weekend in Mendoza, Argentina and realized that study abroad would not be complete without collecting stories you’ll never fully know how to explain later. So here’s my attempt at recapping the adventure to my dearest friend Kenadi.
Dear friends back home, you would’ve loved it. Yes, I’m still alive. And no, I don’t think I’m emotionally prepared to leave South America.”

.n.desta : “The last few weeks of my time in Seville were very bittersweet. While I was excited to spend time with some relatives and eventually make my way back home, I found myself getting a bit comfortable in Spain. I had gotten accustomed to the slower lifestyle, the beautiful weather, and the life I had built for myself. After my trip to Rome and Paris I had participated in La Féria, a holiday celebrated only in Seville. After that, classes started to wrap up and we all spent a lot of time together outside of the classroom to reminisce. Currently I am in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK to spend time with family. While my time in Seville is over for now, something tells me I’ll be back someday”

: “For my last trip in Ireland, I decided to head out to the same place i went for my first one, Howth! I took a boat tour around Ireland’s Eye in hopes to see some of the famous puffins. Unfortunately, the day we went it was extremely windy and we couldn’t sail around to see them, but the views were still amazing from the water! 🇮🇪”
: “Thursday evening in Florence. Indian food for dinner and a spontaneous outing to a live music bar with Olivia. It was a tiny space with just us, two other ladies, and the Italian man singing. The ladies were from Belarus and Russia. The man asked us to join him on stage. So I went up and sang Take Me Home, Country Roads with the Russian lady. The Italian man played Johnny Cash and some Italian songs he wrote after that. It was a lovely evening with strangers and good melody.”
