Ethnic Crops Production and Marketing Workshop 03/24/2016

On March 19, 2016, the "Ethnic Crops: Food Production and Marketing Strategies" workshop was hosted at Firebird Farm, providing an overview of ethnic foods from farm to fork. Presenters included: Yao Afantchao, UDC CAUSES / SARE; Olukemi Adeola, UDC-CC Food Science Adjunct;
John B. Manirakiza, Community Leader;
Tambra Raye Stevenson, NativSol Kitchen and W. Dean Hively, USDA-ARS. The food was prepared by Chef Marie Joe Faye.

ICE-E 2015 Fellow and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity member Jude Collins, being interviewed at the East Capitol Urban Farm Build Day. Countless UDC partner organizations and neighborhood groups brought together over 1,000 volunteers who transformed a vacant corner lot at 5900 East Capitol Street, SE, into a fabulous community-oriented project consisting of a farming space, community gardens, rain gardens, a nature trail, playground, and community art space. The joint effort was a model community oriented partnership that will measurably improve the quality of life and economic prosperity of people and communities in the District of Columbia.
