Brooklyn Co-op Divided Over Push to Boycott Israeli Products
“Jewish people should not have to choose between local and organic food and their safety and their voice,” Kenneth L. Marcus, the chief executive of the Brandeis Center, said in the statement. “Protective measures for this upcoming vote are not a procedural nicety. They are the minimum condition for a legitimate vote and a basic obligation to the safety and dignity of every Jewish member.”

Today, filed a first-of-its-kind complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on behalf of a freshman Orthodox Jewish student at Williams College alleging that the college violated Title VIII – also known as the Fair Housing Act (FHA) – by discriminating against the student due to his religion. According to the complaint, the school did not give the student full and equal access to required on-campus housing and meal plans. The Brandeis Center urges the Office for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) to investigate the complaint and determine that the College engaged in discriminatory housing practices.
