The American Chemical Society's Office of Science Outreach provides educational resources and coordinates volunteers to organize events across the globe.

The American Chemical Society's Office of Science Outreach runs community-based programs—National Chemistry Week (NCW), Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW), and the Chemistry Festival—to unite ACS member components in communicating the importance of chemistry to our quality of life. OSO provides educational resources, produces children’s literature with activities and articles supporting yearly themes, and coordinates volunteers to organize events across the globe.

A Salutes to Excellence award was presented at the IL-IA ACS Undergraduate Research Conference to Rachael Mullins, the CEO and President of the Putnam Museum and Science Center, in Davenport, IA, by the llinois-Iowa local section. The Putnam Museum provided free admission for ACS members and their families to kick-off a partnership between the Museum and the local section. The section received an ACS Innovative Project Grant to provide interactive chemistry demonstrations and support the development of a new exhibit.
