Postdoctoral fellowships are becoming increasingly common in sociology. From one-year teaching-intensive opportunities to multi-year research fellowships, post-docs provide an opportunity for recent PhDs to develop professionally before transitioning into a more permanent position. But what makes these positions different from other forms of employment? And, more importantly, how do you maximize your time as a postdoctoral fellow? Join ASA for a conversation with Rachel Kimbro, Professor of Sociology and experienced postdoc mentor at Rice University, and Jean Beaman, who completed postdocs at Duke University and the European University Institute and is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
