We've been recording short videos of our students this summer during our Friday classes, and our push thus far has been to encourage fellow students about the importance of voting. Here's our first installment in the series, featuring some of our amazing students in DC for the semester!

We've been doing some interesting things lately. We had a class visit with Senator Gillibrand, sat in the House gallery to observe one of the Speaker votes (the third effort by Jim Jordan), and then last week we met with Anderson Okoniewski from the House Republican Conference to learn more about the inner workings of a party's leadership structure.

Last week, we had many guests in town from across the SUNY System for SUNY's Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. The Chancellor was here, 16 campus Presidents, and quite a few other folks from most of the SUNY schools. We heard from Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, and Representatives Joe Morelle and Marc Molinaro. Our students had a great time!

Over the last couple weeks of our summer program, our class visited the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, and the National Zoo. Here are some shots from those visits.

Our class had the opportunity on Friday to get a tour of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center thanks to SUNY Brockport alum Mike Mcclare, who works there. We toured several buildings across the vast campus, and saw the Hubble Telescope operations control center, as well as a large area where engineers and scientists were working on building the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, which is scheduled to launch in 2027! This was a terrific visit.

We've been visiting some great places already this summer, including the Library of Congress, the National Archives, and the U.S. State Department!

As we start the summer 2023 internship program TODAY (!), here's a look back at some of the places we visited in the spring as part of our seminar class. Visits to the State Department, the National Archives, the Supreme Court, the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum, Lockheed Martin, the Brookings Institution, and the Cato Institute were just some of the many things we did together! We have some exciting new plans as well for the summer.

Our fall 2022 class of interns got off to a great start last week with a visit to BJC - Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty for our first seminar of the semester, followed by a terrific tour of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in the afternoon.
