🎓 Student Spotlight: Rebecca Luc

Meet Rebecca Luc, an international lawyer, Haitian magistrate, and current LL.M. student in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law.

A member of the Port-au-Prince Bar, Rebecca previously served as a Public Prosecutor in Croix-des-Bouquets and Port-au-Prince after training at the Haitian School of Magistrates and studied at The Hague Academy of International Law, the Henry Dunant College in Geneva, and the Nuremberg Principles Academy.

She founded the Sommet International sur la Modernisation du Droit en Haïti, an initiative that brings together international lawyers and Haitian jurists to discuss the modernization of Haiti’s justice system.

💬 Reflecting on her experience at AUWCL, Rebecca shares:

“This LL.M. is a fresh start that helps me understand the American legal system, which is very different from the civil law system I practiced for so long.”

Her favorite course so far, American Legal Institutions, has given her a strong foundation in the U.S. legal system and has become a cornerstone of her LL.M. experience.
