Jared Salcedo (G'25, G'27) has been named an inaugural member of the DisCover Fellowship, a groundbreaking cross-disciplinary initiative from Georgetown's Disability Cultural Center that supports students in developing projects on disability studies and culture.

Salcedo, a Master of Professional Studies student in Artificial Intelligence Management at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, is writing a longform essay exploring how AI-assisted communications tools are reshaping the way ability is expressed, evaluated and recognized. His project pairs illustrative vignettes with analysis grounded in disabilities studies and AI ethics to evaluate what's being measured when we assess competence in an increasingly AI-mediated world.

"The award affirms that questions about disability, AI and perception belong at the center of how we think about technology, rather than at its margins," said Salcedo, who previously earned a Master of Professional Studies in Project Management from the School of Continuing Studies. "I am grateful to carry that work forward alongside the other fellows and the mentorship of the Disability Cultural Center and the Disability Studies Program."
