Are smartphones skewing what we know about financial literacy? New research by the FINRA Foundation, University of Southern California, Montana State University found that taking financial literacy surveys on a smartphone can lower scores and lead to more “don’t know” responses. Why? Partly because those taking surveys on a smart phone are more likely to rush through the questions.

The FINRA Foundation and United Way are releasing new research that spotlights United Way of Northwest Vermont and Green Mountain United Way as they engage in a first-of-its kind collaboration, bringing the Working Bridges program to regional scale to reach more workers and serve them better.

In 2025 alone, the program served more than 10,000 employees across 33 employers — reducing stress, boosting benefits usage, and building financial resilience.

📢 The FINRA Foundation has released new research with RAND Corporation examining Americans' awareness of financial fraud. The findings reveal notable knowledge gaps that may leave millions vulnerable to victimization. Identity-based fraud, the most recognized category, was mentioned by only about half of respondents, while awareness of other common scam types was substantially lower.

Better understanding gaps in fraud awareness can help inform fraud prevention education and consumer protection efforts.
