Truck Safety Coalition
Dedicated to reducing the number of deaths and injuries caused by truck-related crashes
The Truck Safety Coalition is a partnership between The CRASH Foundation and Parents Against Tired Truckers (P.A.T.T.), both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. We provide compassionate support to truck crash survivors and families of truck crash victims and educate the public, policy-makers and media about truck safety issues.

On June 13, 2022, Halie Everts with Emiliano, Christina, Aaron and Tessleigh Godines, were killed in a devastating truck crash while returning home to Gillette, Wyoming. They were in Colorado celebrating Aaron’s and Hailie's 20th birthdays. A semi-truck hauling mail for the U.S. Postal Service was speeding down Highway 66 in Colorado when it collided into the family’s vehicle, which slowed for highway traffic at less than 10 mph. Aaron and Halie had just become parents and were embracing life as new parents. Emiliano was described as charismatic and driven, and Christina as generous, by their surviving children.
This tragedy incited the HR 7527, the Mail Traffic Deaths Reporting Act, which requires the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to collect, track, and publicly report information related to deaths and injuries resulting from traffic crashes involving vehicles transporting mail.
Family member Abigail Godines has since shared the harrowing story of her family's crash with legislators on Capital Hill to advocate for truck safety in an effort to saves lives.

Nick Liberatore was tragically killed on June 9, 1997, just south of the Delaware/Maryland state line, in a crash caused by a fatigued truck driver. Nick was traveling to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey with several friends.
Nick was sitting in the back seat of a car on the shoulder when a fatigued trucker carrying a load of steel veered across three lanes and struck the vehicle. The truck driver had not slowed down approaching the toll booth about 1,000 feet beyond the crash site.
Like many others, Nick's death was absolutely preventable. Help TSC save lives by advocating for comprehensive truck safety legislation.
Six years ago on this day, Jimmie Stackpole was nearing the end of his route when a collision occurred between two semi-trucks in front of him. The first semi was fatigued and driving too fast for the rainy conditions when he lost control. The second truck lost control and hit the first truck. Jimmie was traveling at 45 mph when he attempted to avoid the collision, but debris from the initial crash caused him to lose traction. When he was hit from behind by another semi, he was pushed into the truck in front of him. In total, six semis and two passenger vehicles were involved in the crash. Unfortunately, Jimmie was pinned in his truck for two hours and died while being transported to the hospital.
We keep Melissa and the Stackpole family in our thoughts today.

Americans Don’t Agree on Much – Except Opposition to Bigger Trucks – DC Journal - InsideSources While Americans are arguably more polarized than ever, few issues unite them as much as their opposition to sharing the nation’s roads with much larger

On June 3 five years ago, Abby Foster, Devin, Dakota, and Madison Wilson, and J.T. Winstead were on their way to see Abby’s grandparents when a box truck going too fast for the rainy conditions ran off the road, crossed the median cable, and struck their car.
Abby, Devin, Madison, and J.T. were killed. Dakota was the only survivor.
The impact of this tragedy is impossible to quantify. The loss of these four young lives, the loss to their families, to their community, and to the world at large is so great. They were students, athletes, sons, daughters, siblings, and friends, and they will never be forgotten. The driver was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

We're kicking off this year's A Night to Celebrate Truck Safety campaign with one of our dear friends and inaugural gala sponsors, Amy Bradley, of Blankingship & Keith, P.C.
Through her leadership and the support of Blankingship & Keith, Amy has helped advance the Truck Safety Coalition's mission of advocating for safer roads and supporting families impacted by truck crashes. Her commitment reminds us that meaningful change happens when dedicated individuals and organizations choose to stand alongside a cause they believe in.
As we prepare for this year's gala, themed "Charting the Course for Safer Roads," we're honored to share Amy's message and highlight the partners who continue to help move this mission forward.
Thank you, Amy and the entire team at Blankingship & Keith, P.C., for your partnership, leadership, and support. Amy Bradley

4 years ago today, Dominic Lopez-Toney was killed when a truck driver made the absurd decision to conduct an illegal U-turn with no spotters. He was killed on impact.
Dominic had an irrepressible positive spirit and was ready to improve people's lives, having nearly finished with medical school. Following his crash, his mother made a commitment to fight to improve truck safety so others never have to feel the pain she has and continues to endure. Her contributions to the Truck Safety Coalition in Dominic's honor are making a positive impact on people's lives, just as Dominic aspired to do himself, but was never afforded the chance.
