There is no wrong time to take the next step.

Adult Education and Family Literacy Week runs Sept. 13-19. It recognizes DC residents building literacy, workforce, and digital skills while working towards goals of their own.

OSSE-funded providers support District residents age 18 and older. When a parent builds their own reading, the reading at home changes too. If you or someone you know is ready for a next step, find provider information in the OSSE Adult and Family Education Program Guide: https://ow.ly/AKZV50ZNV52

DC’s story is written in many voices.

National Hispanic Heritage Month begins today and runs through Oct. 15. This month, OSSE will share stories from learners, families, educators, and partners whose language, leadership and lived experience strengthen education across DC.

Whose local education story should we know? Use the question sticker in our Stories or send us a message. Then follow along.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we honor the lives lost and the courage of our students, educators, and first responders.

We stand with DC’s education community to remember the victims and salute the strength of those who carry us forward.

Every day in school is a chance to learn, connect and keep momentum moving.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Chronic absence means missing 10 percent or more of enrolled school days, for any reason.

OSSE updates DC's attendance dashboard monthly so families, schools, and communities can see patterns early and focus support where it is needed.

💻Explore the dashboard, then choose one routine or support that can make getting to school easier this week: https://ow.ly/Z9AV50ZM3oW
