Framing the Future An evening of art & music in support of the Two Rivers Community. tworiverspcs.org/framing Framing the Future is Two Rivers' annual fundraising gala.

Through music, fine art, and drama, all students in preschool through 8th grade integrate their learning in reading, writing, and math with the arts, which challenges them to think and grow in new ways. Research has shown that concentrated study in the arts contributes to a child’s positive self-esteem, social skills, and understanding of different cultures and experiences. Choosing to provide quality arts education costs money—and the funding Two Rivers receives from the DC government is not enough. The school depends on outside funding. The annual Framing the Future Gala, the school’s largest fundraiser, raises money to support the robust arts education program. The evening attracts hundreds of DC residents, business leaders, and government representatives; features a silent auction of arts, goods, and services; showcases food and drinks from local businesses; and includes a student performance, live music, and a DJ.

Last night Two Rivers hosted the annual Literacy Festival. It was a wonderful example of arts integration that the supports. The students enjoyed things like a creative mini book-making station, an outlet for budding comic book artists, an awesome acrostic name chain making activity, reader's theater, Spanish story-telling AND colorful alphabet book-making.
