Serving with excellence has always been my goal - particularly in ASL-English (voice) interpreting. My driving force is to do everything I possibly can to ensure that when I am working into English, I distinctly and accurately deliver the Deaf consumer’s source message. I am excited to share with you that I am now teaching a 5-week course to remind us to practice the essential skills necessary to deliver excellence in our interpretations. The next cohort for this course begins in January. Interpreters from all over the country have committed to joining and seats in the course are filling fast. The moment you have been waiting for is not going to feel the way you think it will.

It is not going to arrive calm and certain with all your questions answered. It is going to show up in the middle of your fear with your heart racing and your hands shaking and still ask you to move.

Most of us have been waiting for a version of ready that does not exist.

And while we wait the life we were built for keeps standing at the door knocking.

Here is what I know at 65 after watching myself and the people I love do this over and over again.

The leap never gets easier. You just get more tired of staying where you are.

That tiredness is not weakness. That is the beginning of your next chapter announcing itself.
