We were honored to welcome the District’s DC Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn and team to Carlos Rosario School for a conversation about what makes our School an “educator oasis.” CEO Allison Kokkoros, Chief Schools Officer Chelsea Bradford, Principal Sonia Gutierrez Campus, Keith Juarez, and members of our teaching staff shared insights about the educator experience and the supportive culture that helps our teachers thrive.
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight what is working well at Carlos Rosario School and to discuss ways to strengthen support for educators across the District. Together, we explored how positive school environments can help elevate the teaching profession and support educator success.

At this year's Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Expo, graduates of Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School swept the competition, winning all three top prizes! Even more than that, 5 of the 8 finalists were Carlos Rosario PCS alumni! The Carlos Rosario School Small Business Program also received the GWHCC Community Impact Award!
This competition draws over 1,000 competitors every year and this, its 50th year, makes these accomplishments even more meaningful as the Carlos Rosario School Small Business Program is celebrating its first decade. "Watching our graduates take the top three prizes in the pitch competition while also being recognized as Community Impact Partner of the Year confirms what we have always believed: this program changes lives and strengthens our local economy,” said Raul Medrano about this recognition.

What an incredible day at the GWHCC - Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Expo! 🎉
Our Small Business Program celebrated its 10th anniversary in the best way possible, receiving the Community Impact Award on stage and sweeping the Annual Pitch Competition. All three top finishers were Carlos Rosario School graduates:
1st Place: Diana Castrillon, Almendro Station
2nd Place: Jamyl Dugum, Artesano
3rd Place: Gemma Kibunja, Gems Field and Fork
Five of the eight competition finalists were program alumni, and four graduates brought their businesses to the Small Business Village. CEO Allison Kokkoros and Program Manager Raul Medrano also honored GWHCC President Nicole Quiroga with a plaque celebrating the Chamber's 50 years of community leadership.
Our students and graduates showed Washington, D.C. exactly what's possible. We couldn't be prouder.
