Our prekindergarten classes enjoyed an imaginative cruise adventure, exploring “islands” like Hawaii, Belize, Antigua, and Saint Martin. Dressed for vacation, students learned about diverse cultures, foods, and traditions.
* Hawaii: Students engaged in hula hoop lessons, crab fishing, and enjoyed slushies after visiting a gift shop.
* Belize: Activities included limbo dancing, sand-in-a-bottle crafts, and refreshing slushes, introducing them to Belize’s rich heritage.
* Saint Maarten: Young explorers fished, colored shells, and decorated headbands, learning about local music and enjoying ice pops.
* Antiqua: Students decorated fish, explored music, and experienced the island’s hospitality with a refreshing beverage.
This adventure provided a fun way for students to learn about different cultures.

Students learned about the benefits of locally grown fruits and vegetables, starting with a vibrant breakfast of blueberries. For lunch, they enjoyed strawberries and salad greens, followed by cucumbers and blackberries as snacks, all part of the Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program.
In classrooms, interactive lessons highlighted the importance of fresh produce, with students seeing a real strawberry plant. OSSE guests were excited by the students’ eagerness to try new foods, and each taste tester received a special sticker for their adventurous spirit.
