The American Legion Auxiliary Arkansas Girls State Committee issues the following statement in response to a series of allegations regarding the 2026 session. The Committee takes the safety, dignity, and well‑being of every delegate and Staff member seriously.

The allegations being circulated are unsubstantiated, inaccurate, and do not reflect the documented events of the 2026 session. No formal complaints supporting these claims were submitted through any established reporting channels during or after the program by the Staff. Delegates and counselors had multiple avenues to report concerns; none were used for any issue. The Committee stands firmly by the integrity of its volunteers, its procedures, and its long‑standing commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all delegates.

No room search for va**ng occurred, nor was any search conducted in the manner described. At the insistence of Staff, the Committee was called to a dorm at a late hour to address an issue one delegate reported having with her suite‑mate. Committee members responded promptly, as policy requires when there is a report of a potential safety, health, or policy concern involving a delegate, counselor, or Staff member. An informal inquiry was conducted. Finding no substantial evidence to support the claim, the Committee determined the delayed report made by the suite‑mate was unfounded. No delegate was disciplined or threatened with dismissal from the program.

Selection processes for Girls Nation Senators and the Samsung Scholarship followed long‑standing procedures consistent with National and Department ALA guidelines. Each submission for Girls Nation was reviewed by Committee members and two former Girls Nation Senators, who served as Junior Counselors. Submissions were scored based on merit rather than popularity. No evidence supports the claim that diversity was reduced.

The dress code was communicated in writing by the Staff well in advance and is consistent with Department ALA expectations. No delegate or counselor was shamed for inability to meet dress standards. Any corrective conversations were conducted according to the published handbook and ALA standards. Adjustments for heat and comfort were permitted, and no issues pertaining to heat or comfort were reported to the Committee by the Staff or onsite nurses.

Arkansas Girls State has served young women across the state for decades with a record of safety, leadership development, and civic education. The Committee remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the continued empowerment of every delegate who attends the program.

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Arkansas affirms that the entire Girls State staff did not resign. Our dedicated team remains committed to the mission of developing strong, informed, service‑minded young women across our state.

Planning for the 2027 session of Arkansas Girls State is already underway, and we look forward to welcoming delegates, counselors, and volunteers to another meaningful year of leadership, learning, and civic engagement.

Arkansas Girls State has stood for generations as a place where young women discover their voice, their confidence, and their capacity to lead. That legacy continues with strength, stability, and purpose.
