Our Wednesday Movie Nights are back!
On Wednesday August 30th at 5:30 pm in Locke Hall Room 244, we will screen two short films, Le franc (1994) and The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun (1999) by the late Senegalese film director, Djibril Diop Mambéty. We will have a meet and greet along with pizza and refreshments beginning at 5:00 pm. See you there!

About the films:
“In Le franc, a broke musician comes upon a lottery ticket after his beloved instrument is confiscated by his landlady; in the posthumously released The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun, a young girl decides to sell newspapers on the streets, despite the fact that boys have historically run that racket. The two films function beautifully as a pair of magical realist works grounded in the political realities of Dakar.”
