Gallaudet University Youth Programs are hosting their annual Battle of the Books! Registration is open TODAY at noon EST and will run through Wednesday, September 14th at 4:00p EST.
The first school/program/team to register will not only receive bragging rights as they'll have had this year's fastest fingers, but they'll also receive $100 off this year's team fees!

To qualify as an alumni, you must have: 1) completed at least one semester as a full time undergraduate or graduate student at the University and 2) graduated and/or you must not be currently matriculated as a student at the University at any point during the application or six-week program period of the Competition.
You must not have been required to leave the University at any time for academic or disciplinary reasons.
The following are deemed ineligible to apply:
Current employees of the University and Clerc Center;
Closely related family members to any individual (whether an employee or independent contractor) involved with the administration or judging of the BisonTank Competition; and
The University reserves the right to determine eligibility in the event there is not an actual conflict of interest, but there may be the perception of one.
If you already have a team; however, only one team member must meet the individual criteria above. This member will be the representative of the team throughout the competition. There will be no switching representatives mid-competition, and

If you haven't already heard, the Opening Doors Unlocking Potential (ODUP) conference will be completely virtual this year, taking place Wednesday, June 22 through Friday, June 24 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. The 16th annual state-wide conference brings together parents and professionals across the Commonwealth of Virginia to engage in dialogue, discussion and learning methods to strengthen academic outcomes for children who are deaf or hard of hearing in order to increase the knowledge and skills of those who can have a positive impact on a student's educational process.
Not only will Virginia Hands & Voices be hosting a session this year titled 'Hear It/See It: The Honest Experiences of Mainstreamed DHH Children with a Live Q&A following, but we are also offering THREE FREE REGISTRATIONS to the conference! Virginia Hands & Voices is pleased to present a virtual learning opportunity on promoting social and emotional health among D/HH children. A panel of D/HH psychologists and social workers will lead the discussion next Tuesday, May 24 from 8:00-9:00pm, via Zoom.
The purpose of this panel is to provide tips and information on how to promote social and emotional well-being among children who are deaf or hard of hearing, especially in instances where they may be one of the only D/HH students in their school or community.
Topics may include:
Making friends
Social skills
Navigating the social setting in a mainstream environment
Panelists include Tobias Canterbury, Dr. Gregory Farber, Lauren Good and Susanne Wilbur who will share resources for support and personal experiences. Questions from participants are welcomed and we will leave time at the end of the panel discussion to address your specific needs and concerns.
